Mausoleums are the place where the Emperors of Nguyen Dynasty were buried and took a rest forever. Hue has 7 tombs of 9 emperors; these constructions were started almost during the Emperor’s reign. The tomb is not only a tomb but also a second Imperial City for the Emperor taking pleasure. The tomb is planned and constructed elaborately in the hilly region southwest of the Citadel, is divided into 2 main areas: the temple area and the tomb area. Beside the main buildings, the tomb also has the lotus lakes, mountains, pine hills, flower gardens, bonsai, bridges…Each tomb has dozens of splendid monuments in perfect harmony with poetical natural environment. Apart from the similarities, each tomb also has its own artistic features in accordance with an Emperor’s character.
